Blog 2. Going further 13/10/2014

Looking further into my ideas and the imagery/concepts i'm considering, I met with John Edmonds to discuss further ideas. He mentioned Haiku, a Japanese Poetry.

Haiku - Short poems that use sensory language to capture a feeling or image. They are often inspired by an element of nature, a moment of beauty or a poignant experience. It was originally developed by Japanese poets.

Another idea that came out of the meeting was Art Therapy - expression movement, thoughts feelings and memories can be expressed through making art. A colour, shape or texture can express things that are difficult to put into words.

The idea of the DNA Helix has come to mind as the foundation of my work - the basis in which i return to throughout my work. The idea of the DNA Helix making up your body and who you are, and without that you wouldn't be able to generate movement as you wouldn't be you. - need to define more and look into if i consider using it.

The helix could be an interesting starting point - making it and navigating it around the screen, moulding it into something such as dance and somebody dancing. Showing that it makes up all of someone.

Eurythmy is an expressive movement art originated by Rudolf Steiner in conjunction with Marie von Sivers in the early 20th century. Primarily a performance art, it is also used in education, especially in Waldorf schools, and – as part of anthroposophic medicine – for claimed therapeutic purposes.
